Drivers and Others
Travelling Head Lad
Mark is one of our travelling head lads, travelling the horses to the races and being responsible for their care and production on race day. He also represents Lucinda and Scu at the races if they are not able to be there. Mark has ridden many point to point and hunter chase winners, and although now retired from race riding he still helps with the schooling of the horses and is a proficient work rider. Mark looked after the Albert Bartlett winner Brindisi Breeze, and made the final ten in the Godolphin Stabke Staff Awards 2014 for the Leadership Category. When Mark is not busy travelling the racehorses he enjoys hitting the trails with his mountain bike.
Part Time Driver
Steve helps with lorry driving on long trips to the races. He is our Transport Manager for our operators license, monitoring the maintenance records of each lorry, keeping the drivers tachograph records and making sure that we meet all of the driving laws and regulations. Steve is kept very active when not at the yard as he is a dedicated foster carer.
Yard Help At Arlary And Kilduff
Ronnie is self employed and helps us when we need an extra set of hands. He drives the tractor, helps with building issues, helps on the farm, and is generally there when we need him. In his spare time Ronnie is a musician and has played in bands since the 70s. His band plays at our owners lunches and yard parties.
Spanish born Eugenio is our veterinary consultant attending the yard regularly to monitor each horse. He has plenty of experience with racehorses having worked with Liam Kearns at the Three Counties Equine Hospital. Eugenio is based at the Royal 'Dick' School of Veterinary Studies where he lectures on equine surgery, with special interests in equine arthroscopy and podiatry. Under his guidance we have access to many items of specialist equipment including an overground scope, gastroscope, exercise ecg, digital x ray, MRI scan, and the experienced specialist surgeons at RDSVS in Edinburgh.
