No winners but a good day at Kelso in the company of a happy crowd. I was so taken aback at the number of people who lined the rails to see One For Arthur parade with Mark. Arthur was on his toes and loves his new celebrity status.
Another celebrity in our eyes is Urban Kode who we feared would need the run but who galloped all the way to the line to snatch second place from Alizee De Janeiro in a photo finish. A small horse he is a total battler and while he is hard on himself physically, resulting in a careful training routine and plenty of rest, he loves his racing.
Alizee takes plenty of credit for this run as she traveled and hurdled as well as she can on the slightly dead ground and should have plenty more wins this summer.
Green Flag delighted us in the three mile chase, still looking a little ring rusty, but warming to the task and staying on to be third. He loves his racing and could be the type for the Borders National next season.
Shine A Diamond could not handle the left handed track, while poor Superior Command looked in trouble as he jumped violently right over the fences. He will be checked over this week as it looks as if something is hurting him. Hey Listen will be a nice type in time but we will return him to point to points this season to let him mature; he fell at the final downhill fence when starting to make his move through the field.
Maraweh was, unfortunately, a non runner after standing on the toe clip of his shoe in the horsebox. He will now head to Perth.
