An effective morning on the yard with the majority of the horses having a canter three times up the woodchip. These included the four year olds Star Of Milan, Mighty Thunder, Mary Jane, Ginger and Dr Hooves. All may run before a summer break but need the going to ease.
The Arthur bandwagon rolls on: Tennants have given him a One For Arthur beer pump in our local, the Thistle Hotel, and he is getting ready for a parade at 1.15pm at Musselburgh tomorrow. However, his best part of the day today was getting turned out in the field with Quito Du Tresor, pictured, and enjoying some time to canter around putting in some large bucks on the way. He is slowly starting to wind down and his proper holiday will start in May.
We have runners at both Haydock and Carlisle tomorrow.
At Haydock Mumgos Debut is declared for the Grassroots middle distance chase final, and as long as the ground is on the soft side he will take his chance. He has been most consistent this season with three wins from five completed runs, and he looks to be still improving. This is a step up in class but he deserves it at this stage in his career.
Kilbree Chief has been in good form at home and is at last his correct racing weight. He can race lazily but was not a fan of blinkers when we tried him in them at home so sports first time cheekpieces instead. He should run well off a light weight.
Meanwhile at Carlisle Catchthemoonlight is our only runner after Settledoutofcourt was lame this evening. She is tenacious and determined and will run to her mark after a good first run back from a break.
