Pre Perth

It's the time of year when we do landworks and improve the facilities at the two yards. Currently the digger is in at Arlary clearing a banking and readying the ground for a lunge ring and turnout paddock, and landscaping the back land.

Meanwhile we continue to ready the team for Perth, Aintree, Market Rasen and Hexham. This morning, after a nice bit of rain, we schooled Catchthemoonlight over hurdles, and Miss Joeking and Near To Tears over the fences. There is an excellent slow motion film of Miss Joeking and Derek on our FACEBOOK page.

Miss Joeking runs in her first novice chase over two miles tomorrow. She has shown ability but has been out of form for a few months. However, she loves her jumping and I think that she could run a good race tomorrow.

Another mare, Alizee De Janeiro runs over hurdles, and while she carries top weight on the card, Blair takes off seven pounds. She should love the ground and has looked back to form at home in the past week.

Ryalex can be a bit headstrong at home and at the start of races, but he ran a good race last time over two miles and he should be suited by the step up to two and a half miles.

Rivabodiva has been running to a consistent level and she should be fine up in distance to three miles on the forecasted good to soft ground. In the same race Spoils Of War has been struggling to find his form and after poor chase runs and a slightly sulky effort in blinkers last time we are trying him without headgear and up to three miles.

Finally, Maraweh looks a big price in the three mile hurdle, he probably needed the run last time and returned to his favourite track, distance, visor and off a sensible weight he could be very competitive tomorrow.
