We know that we have a good bunch of bumper and novice horses for this year and Precious Cargo looks one of the best after sluicing home at Ayr in the bumper this afternoon. Keen for the first mile and a half he settled entering the straight and Derek was able to extend him for a super win. Cargo is a huge horse and while he needs to learn to race more evenly he has plenty of ability. He will likely go for another bumper in a month or so.
Behindthelines is turning into a star for us and the London Scots For Doddie syndicate. He looked home in front but was just nabbed on the line and there will be second place prizemoney donated to the My name5 Doddie MND charity. Behindthelines looks a true stayer and three miles will suit him even better.
Present Flight also ran a stormer, and after over six hundred days off his second place was all the more creditable. Like Behindthelines he will be better over further but this was an excellent effort, and but for a careful jump at the last he could have won.
Shanroe Street also ran well to be third; he was a little on and off the bridle and better ground and further would be his way forward. Chasseur De Tetes ran his best race so far over hurdles and is slowly strengthening. In the same race, Saint Freule settled better and we will step him up in trip next time. Topham Bay was pulled up after finding the heavy ground too much of an effort.
