Kelpies Myth won this afternoon at Musselburgh in his first attempt at a handicap. Keen early on, he hurdled really swiftly and despite being a few lengths down at the last he stayed on under a power-driven ride by Derek. It is a first winner for the owner group Bolton, Mcgladery, Duncan Black and there should be more to follow. Vinos Choice was far too keen and paid the penalty later on; he will have more work on him by the team here before a spring campaign on the good ground.
We have a lorry full heading back to Musselburgh tomorrow. It is never ideal to run two in a race, but due to lost opportunities and the sound ground on offer at Musselburgh we do just that in three races.
The novice handicap chase is another opportunity for Boys On Tour to continue his progress. Unfortunately, he is a couple of pounds out of the handicap, but he loves this track and his jumping was exemplary last time. Celtic Flames comes in search of better ground and if he can jump with more conviction than last time he could bounce back to form.
The Pertemps Qualifier is an interesting race and both of ours have chances. Tantamount seems to have improved after a break and his run here last month was very solid. Jump For Dough looks progressive and while this is a big step up in class he has done nothing wrong in his past few hurdle races.
Finally, we have two in the bumper. Parker is a big strong type but is still immature. He has plenty of ability and will be a cracking chaser in time. Timesawaiting has the benefit of a point to point run when he was second behind Ask the Tycoon. He is FOR SALE so we are hoping for a good run tomorrow.
