Getting Back To Normal

We are getting back to normal after the terrible snow and with a good rise in temperatures the snow is thawing and life is returning to normal. Today's photo is from last week and was featured in the Telegraph sports section, to show the resilience of the team here.

This morning it was back to cantering after four days trotting and the horses managed to just contain their enthusiasm. The drifts on both gallops were dug out by Will and we should be able to use them tomorrow, while today it was a good canter round the circle gallops.

Mark popped over to pick up Arizona Bound who has come to us to go chasing this summer. He looks a staying type and will maybe prefer better ground.

Newcastle tomorrow is off. It is fantastic to see that Kelso has been granted a replacement fixture to restage their valuable card this Sunday. We had a couple of horses aimed at the meeting but unfortunately, the conditions of their races have changed either in a few furlongs in distance or a few pounds in ratings. I have no idea why and it is frustrating for our owners who were delighted to hear that the meeting was on again.

Work is continuing on the building that will house the new water treadmill which is due to be installed next week. This morning the inside of the walls were painted and now we just need some doors and an inside dividing wall to hide the tanks and machinery once the treadmill is in place. On Wednesday two of our staff are going to Ann Duffield's to see her water treadmill in action; she has a super set up in Yorkshire, see her web page HERE
