First, we had a disappointment with Hexham being abandoned due to waterlogging after the persistent morning rain. The lorry was halfway at the track when it was called off, but was soon home in time for the horses to be exercised.
Next, we were delighted to hear that there will be a replacement fixture at Newcastle on Sunday. Even better is that the BHA have replicated the races that were lost today; it is great that the race planning department has been sensible and provided opportunities for the hoses who were not able to run today.
There is a great video by Bet 365 on what it took to win last year's National. Arthur is the main star, of course, see a link to it on our Facebook page HERE. I will find a way to post it on the home page in the next day or so.
Steve Dennis asked us about how to prepare a horse for jumping the unique Aintree fences, read about our experiences, including the worst rehearsal ever, HERE
The sales season is starting to hot up and we are keen to buy some fresh talent for next year. The Irish point to pointers have stood us well and on Thursday there is the Goffs Aintree Select Sale. A short catalogue is full of classy types; see the selection HERE
Then next week Tattersalls Ireland have their April Cheltenham sale, a successful sale with quite a number of winning mares as well as some quality four and five year old geldings. See the early entries HERE
We will be present at both sales, if you would like to accompany us to pick your own racehorse please contact the office.
