Spoils Of War Wins Well At Sedgefield

Last week Blair suggested that I enter Spoils Of War at Sedgefield and he was well rewarded when he rode Spoils to win this afternoon. A horse who needs plenty of jumping at home he hurdled really well and it is a credit to Blair and Ailsa who rides him most days, that Spoils won on his first start back from his holidays. We do not have many runners at Sedgefield but they looked after joint owner James Dawson well and his haul of prizes is pictured above.

At Aintree Highland Hunter was tenth, finding trouble in running in a fairly rough race. He galloped to the line though and will now have a holiday before hurdling next autumn.

We have four tomorrow at Newcastle on heavy ground.

Rivabodiva has been in top form this season and gets on well with Thomas. She has plenty of weight but has been really fresh at home and should run very well.

We have aimed Grand Morning at this novice hurdle final and while it is a tight race, as befits a valuable race, he should relish the step up in distance.

Ballycool much prefers good ground but he starts his summer season off tomorrow and some confidence from this run should set him up for the next few months. His owners Paul and Margaret Winnell make the long trip over from the Isle Of Man to watch him.

Finally, we run Arizona Bound in the last. His best bumper form was on good ground and he carries top weight here.
