One For Arthur was on his best behaviour when meeting HRH The Princess Royal at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies this morning. Princess Anne who is Chancellor of the University and Patron of the R(D)SVS was there to open the newly expanded equine care hospital, a facility that offers top of the range operating facilities as well as a new intensive care unit.
Princess Anne also saw a new four dimensional scanner which John Keen demonstrated by scanning Arthur's heart. This is the first scanner of this level and it will be used to investigate the variables of sports horse hearts as well as to diagnose disease. The RDSVS are our vets and we are lucky and proud to be able to use their top class vets, facilities, diagnostics and treatment facilities, along with participating in research with them.
At home, some of the horses are starting their holidays, including Grand Morning who spends his summers in Ireland. We said goodbye to the delightful Tap Night who is off to Lucie for his retirement, and retired here is the genuine It'stimeforapint whose kind owners have given to Leanne who has looked after and ridden him each day since she started here; he will point to point with Leanne next year.
