Yard Catch Up

It has been such beautiful weather that the website news has been neglected as we spend time tidying and cleaning the yard and boxes as well as attending to the horses in training and being broken in.

We have had two new arrivals, both three year olds.

'Billy' is by Dylan Thomas out of the winning hurdler Loch Dhu. He has come from his breeder Robert Robinson and has been well prepared. A compact strong type he has a great temperament and Derek has already started away with him.

'Toastie' is by Brian Boru out of Granery House, and is a half brother to Crumbs who although un raced is highly regarded from our 'Class of 2017'. Toastie arrived this afternoon and will be broken in and ridden away for his owners and breeders Julia and Alexander Trotter.

It was super to see Andrew Thornton retire today in one piece and also with a winner. Andrew rode my first runner, Fiveleigh Builds, to win at Perth in September 1995 and started my career off on a high: it was great fun in those days and the enthusiasm that he had for riding then seemed undimmed today. I wish him all the best for his future.

Congratulations Lucinda on your OBE award.
Having met you many years ago mainly at Ayr racecourse you have always found time for a chat. You have come a long way since I first met you and awarded your dad a prize after his Rocket run won a race at Ayr. Well done Lucinda. Well deserved.
