Time is passing and the batches of horses are going on to their next level of training. The horses in full training have a lull in racing as there is just Perth in a fortnight so we have time to regroup and either add in some zimming around the fields or a bit of fun schooling for them.
The pre trainers have completed a week at Arlary and have had their first bit of fast work, albeit at an easy level. Next week it gets more serious. A few of later season horses have finished their trotting and are now starting to add some small bits of cantering. Included in these is Morito Du Berlais who will run in early winter for the British Racing Club.
The three and two year old breakers are now cantering for a mile and a half each day and will soon go to the farm to start cantering on the grass and popping over the logs around the fields.
Our race planner and handicapper, Paul McIvor is busy finding the first targets for each horse, and looking for mid season bigger aims for some. Paul, who is ex Timeform, has been working for us behind the scenes for a year now and his input in finding races, suggesting how each race will be run, and doing a post race write up for each horse has been invaluable.
On the horse front Flutter Down has found new owners in Suzy and Peter Brown and should be a lovely horse for them in the future. Thepensionfund has another joint owner; Hywel Davies who won the 1985 Grand National on Last Suspect joins Scu and Gerry McGladery in ownership and we are eagerly awaiting Thepensionfund's return to the track.
We will be heading to Doncaster on Wednesday this week for the Goffs horses in training sales to boost our numbers of ready to run horses; see the GOFFS CATALOGUE here and if you are interested in any of the horses, or coming to the sales please contact Lucinda
