It was another busy day for the team today and we are delighted that the efforts were rewarded by a winner at Perth when Celtic Flames came with a strong run to win the two and a half mile handicap hurdle. Timed to perfection by Derek, Celtic was winning for the third time for Willie Scott and looks to be in fine form after a short break to avoid the fast summer ground. He will continue to mix both hurdles and chases. Pat, Willie, Derek, Celtic, Jamie and George are pictured in the winners enclosure.
In the same race we were delighted with our warrior Urban Kode who ran to form to be fourth, fighting his way through horses when bunched in true terrier fashion. Ryalex also pleased us when returning from a long lay off and leading in a calm measured manner and only being passed in the final few furlongs. Unfortunately, Hey Listen was on a non-going day and he seems unimpressed by racing at the moment.
Rivabodiva limbered up for the winter with a bold show, and her fourth place will be improved upon in the coming months.
Earlier Thepensionfund hurdled better but was a bit flat in his novice hurdle; the trip south to Worcester possibly took a bit much out of him and he will have a freshen up before his next run. Arizona Bound was also a bit flat and this was not his true showing.
Finally, we were pleased with the two four year olds in the bumper; Mint Gold though green ran with promise to be third and Pinspot had learned from his first run and looked more polished; he has been schooled over hurdles and long term will make a nice stayer.
