More Results, More Seconds

Bialco made a bold bid to win the Northern Staying Novice Hurdle Final at Newcastle on Saturday, and just got run out of it in the last few strides. He has progressed from his first run of the season just seven weeks ago, and if he can hold his form he could win again. His enthusiastic Scandinavian owners, Morten and Carsten made the journey to Newcastle from Copenhagen and are pictured in the winners enclosure.

Later on, Mumgos Debut was not himself in the two and a half mile chase, jumping moderately and Derek wisely pulled him up before the last. He will be checked over in the next few days.

Today we had just the one runner at Carlisle; Make It Happen ran with enthusiasm for most of his race, but got tired in the home straight, feeling the effects of a holiday and he should be much sharper next time.

A couple of the staff keep point to pointers at the farm, riding them in the dark before work or after a long day, and showing great dedication in doing so. Today Ailsa got a due reward when second at Carlisle in her first hunter chase on the wonderful Settledoutofcourt. Also riding today, but at the Jedforest point to point was Patrick Wadge who has taken the ride on Maraweh while Cameron is injured. We are looking forward to welcoming Cameron back next week, on his return from a compression fracture of his back.
