Make It Happen, pictured, showed his love for Kelso as he returned there to win over 2m2f, the race that he had won last year. A horse with a couple of little quirks he finds this trip ideal and stayed on past the leader in the home straight. It was a super win for his patient owners Wilma and Gordon Wright and Jeremy Mitchell who should have a fun summer with Mac, and for jockey Thomas Willmott who rode a double. In the same race, Royal Reserve ran flat and looked outpaced on ground that was just on the soft side. He is much better than this and we will check him out before his return to the track.
The Road Home looked in good spirits and his second in the 2m5f handicap chase was a good effort as he jumped with more confidence. He can have a happy summer for his owners too as he seems to have steadily improved through the season. Mark and Susie Russell's other runner, Rivabodiva, also tried hard but the better ground does not bring out the best in her.
Le Frank was unlucky to eject Derek at the third, as he had looked fabulous in the paddock, while Well Above Par found the going a bit lively and was outpaced in the three mile chase staying on one paced in fifth; he will be much better once stronger. Crumbs is also still weak and while he settled better he hung right again when tired and will have a good holiday.
