We ended last season in 34th place in the British trainers table with 36 winners and £413,128 in owners prizemoney.
In terms of total winners it was a drop from previous years and we are keen to get back up to the 50 winners plus mark; I am confident that with the team of horses and staff that we have for the new season we can convert our many placed horses into wins. Our burning ambition continues to be to win at eh top level as well as to do the best with every horse that we have in the yard. As a result we have great plans for the summer more of which will be highlighted on this site over the next few weeks.
Top of the runners for prizemoney was One For Arthur, but it was a close thing with Alizee De Janeiro running him close to the line after her five fabulous wins. Indeed our chasers have shone as usual, as have the staying horses. I was most proud of the way that the team here showed how they could ready Arthur for the top level in a dry winter, and to keep our whole string in good form throughout the season.
We have plenty of youngsters coming through slowly and having had an abundance of unsuitable fast ground many of them have had a light season or no runs at all. However, they are there for next autumn and we are looking forward to some novice hurdle and chase winners.
The next few months will be filled with a small summer team aimed at Perth, Hexham, Market Rasen and Uttoxeter to get some wins on the board before the autumn. We will also be adding some upgrades to the yards, and giving the horses and staff quality holiday time.
The summer is full of bloodstock sales and we are aiming to add a couple of stores and some horses with experience to the team; if you are keen to join us at the sales or to be involved with Lucinda Russell Racing please contact Lucinda.
