The water treadmill has been a big investment for the yard but it showed its worth yesterday when Bialco ran a big race at Punchestown to be sixth in the three mile handicap hurdle.
A horse with masses of talent but a fragile body the care and time taken with Bialco by Ute and Carey has been rewarded with a supple and sound athlete who rallied strongly up the testing Punchestown home straight. Going down by four lengths in a close finish this was a brave performance and there will be more top days to come from Morten and Carsten’s grey gelding.
Ute and Carey run the water treadmill therapy room and as well as sessions on the chilled salt water treadmill they also give each horse time stretching, massaging and using various physio therapy machines on them. We are proud to have such an on site facility and it helps keep our horses in top physical form. Certainly Bialco has benefitted from the care.
Lucky Flight is our next runner tomorow evening in the two mile two furlong bumper. A competitive full field race he will need to be at the top of his game, but whatever the outcome he will make a cracking hurdler and chaser in the future.
The select sales after racing today had a number of talented youngsters and we are delighted that the five year old Getaway mare Southern Girl is to join us. Having seen her debut on bottomless ground in Kilfeacle, she then hacked up two weeks ago at Quakerstown and looks to have plenty of ability. She is an exciting addition to the yard.
