We have a policy of buying two year olds to produce as three year olds and this year's batch look very exciting.
Having had a full year of pre-training we have grouped four youngsters who are showing all the signs of being decent racehorses. Our pre-training includes lots of trotting, cantering and steady work, then some jumping and sprinting to condition and educate. We have found that this promotes soundness and we are now in May with three year olds who are not only broken in but are riding well and have plenty of experience. All have remained sound throughout their work and, following the next month off in the field, should be ready to enter full training in July with the other older horses.
Three of the youngsters are for sale: details on the FOR SALE page.
Fontcombeau is by Kapgarde and the chestnut looks every inch a chaser with a good strong body and an honest outlook.
Diamond D'Etat is by a most popular French sire, Vision D'Etat and is a hurdling type but he has scope to chase in the future. He looks the type to come to hand early.
The un named Dylan Thomas is a most straightforward type who has both Listed flat and hurdling winners in his pedigree; he should be sharp enough for a bumper in the autumn.
Please have a look at all three if you are thinking of buying a store horse this year; they are well forward in their education and should be great value in the future.
