Chanceiton Wins At Hexham

Chanceiton won over fences for the first time when galloping away from his field after the last fence at Hexham this afternoon. Given a confident ride by Thomas Willmott he relished the stamina test to gain his first win over fences. It is special to train a winner for my father and he was delighted that it was ridden by one of our young jockeys. Dad has always supported the junior jockeys and asks that they all be given a chance to ride winners.

Yesterday we had an average day at Perth, Gripper found the two and a half mile trip on the long side and although I have no doubt that he will get it in time, he will stick to shorter in the immediate future. Touchedbyanangel ran a better race until fading after the second last but this was a small step in the right direction.

Make It Happen refused to start for the second time in as many races and his owners have sensibly decided to retire him. A winner of three races at Kelso and competitive at Carlisle and Perth last season, Mac has had a great time in training but maybe trying chasing again has made him decide that enough is enough. He will be found a good home where he will enjoy a less competitive time.

Great to see Chanceiton win such a good race for your Father at Hexham, and fantastic for him to have a winner, many congratulations to Peter.
