Off To Worcester And Other News

The new Edinburgh Gin branded two stall lorry left for Worcester this afternoon with Jaimie and Stephen and Boys On Tour. Having been ready to run at Perth, Boys On Tour sidestepped his races with the ground going heavy and instead he is off to the good to soft at Worcester tomorrow. Stepping up to three miles he will be going left handed for the first time this season but if he copes with all of this he is in great form and keen to race.

Of course, as it says on the home page, the race is won or lost away from the crowds and this morning the lads and horses had to contend with many soakings as heavy showers came through. The rain did not dampen the spirits though and as well as working the horses on the gallops, there was also schooling and pre- and post-race work at the yards. The ground staff work quickly to get the horses dried off and warm after work and we all feel that the autumn jump season is well underway.

Belinda and Fraser McClung were in to see One For Arthur work hard in preparation for his seasonal debut at Kelso and were pleased with what they witnessed. Also in was Willie Scott who came to see Elmono and Celtic Flames; Celtic has received the all clear to return to work following injury last year and we are looking forward to him racing again in December.

We were also joined by a little boy, Max, from the CHAS Rachel House in Kinross, a children's hospice which is just a few miles from us, read about their work HERE

Eugenio was in for his weekly visit and checked over a couple who have raced recently and also the new arrival, Magnum. An athletic chestnut, Magnum has won on the flat in his native Denmark and has been found by agent Morten Buskop. At just four years old he has the frame to make a good hurdler and is for sale at a reasonable price. More details will be posted this week.
