Apologies for the lack of news; a minor glitch. We have had some good runs over the past week including Speak Of The Devil who made a strong bid to win his first chase, but had to settle for second place. This was an excellent effort from the lightly raced gelding and there are plenty more good runs to come from him. He is pictured leading the string down the gallops on Saturday.
Order Of Thistle was fourth at Sedgefield finding the ground a little heavy, as did Fyfin Patsy at Newcastle. A Ladies Milan ran a better race to be fifth, he is slowly improving and while he will need to school a little more he has a genuine way of going. Signifiant was understandably rusty on his first run for a few months and he will come on for the experience, while Big River was making a satisfactory comeback at Cheltenham until making a shuddering mistake three from home after which Derek pulled him up. He has come out of the race well and will be prepared for the Welsh National.
At Hexham our two marathon four mile chase runners were fifth and sixth, Arizona Bound actually running sweetly for a long time until not quite staying while Misfits ran below par which is most unusual.
We have just the one runner tomorrow at Musselburgh; Touchedbyanangel has conditions to suit and goes with a solid each way chance. He was unlucky to knock himself last time but has been fully checked over and has been feeling well at home.
We are looking forward to the approaching week with a few runners midweek, and ending with Newbury and Newcastle on Saturday. We have some important work on the grass at the start of the week and a few new horses to introduce to you towards the end of the week; more news as it happens.
