We are glad to have worked the horses on the grass last week while it was mild as the recent frosts have changed our focus back to the woodchip and just trotting on the thick grassland. The horses are fresh after their work and we are looking forward to a few more race meetings this week.
Having said that Musselburgh looks under threat of being off through the frost, which would lose some opportunities for our horses. We have six declared there.
Destiny Is All is a cracking big horse who has found the heavy ground a bit beyond him recently. Dropped back in trip but on better ground he should be capable of galloping to the line in a big field novice hurdle.
We all love Gemologist, small but with a big heart and a filly who always tries for you. She is in what looks to be a suitable race for her and she deserves to go one better than her recent second placings.
Emirat De Cantana is another who will be happy back on good ground and having had a good confidence boost on his last run he should be competitive tomorrow. Sadly his owner the British Racing Club has come to an end so he runs in my father's colours, but will be available for sale or lease.
Blooriedotcom has plenty of ability but is still finding his feet over hurdles and we retain his hood for tomorrow's race. He has been very fresh at home and is a sensible each way price.
Finally, we have two in the two and a half mile chase. Effet Special could be better suited to two and a half miles on good to soft than two on heavy which he has been running on recently. He has looked much more relaxed in his races and we dispense with the hood tomorrow. The Road Home was unlucky to exit when in the lead before the home turn last time, and he has schooled since with great enthusiasm; conditions should suit him.
