An ease in the weather and we have been working hard at home again with plenty of fresh horses after the abandonment of Musselburgh and some welcome race meetings on the horizon.
Working on the grass this morning were a mix of horses who had missed recent races and a couple of those who have aims in the next ten days; Izzy's Champion, Blooriedotcom, Eeyore, Destiny Is All, The Road Home, A Ladies Milan, Charmix, Timesawaiting, Mighty Thunder, Effet Special, Order Of Thistle and Looks Like Murt.
With the arrival of Steven and Gregor we have more time to concentrate on some of the younger horses and back into work are four two year olds, Haute Estime (Walk In The Park), Netywell (Wilywell), DJ (Getaway), and Pepper (Sulamamni). The first batch of two and three year olds are working away nicely, cantering over a couple of miles a day and mixing in some repetitions up the straight; Hector Master (Masterstroke), Rambo (Sholokov), Storm (Shantou), Dylan (Dylan Thomas) and Thunder In Milan (Milan). We are really pleased with all of the youngsters and it is a testament to Stephen and the boys that they have been broken in so well and are going in a nice way.
We have had a few new arrivals; to run on the flat is Ballyare, a two year old by Hot Streak who is rated 65 and may run at Newcastle next week, and Max Appeal who is a tall quality four year old by Kayf Tara, and who has been well pre trained by Patrick Turley. Max is pictured getting to know Thorpe who will be his field companion when turned out.
It is exciting to have a good crop of youngsters coming through as well as the older horses who have been running well during the autumn. Having had just a couple of runners recently it is a relief to see the entries starting again over the next few weeks. Included is tomorrow's runner Speak Of The Devil who goes to Haydock on his second chase start.
While Devil lacks chasing experience he is also unexposed and has a light weight over three miles at a track that should suit him. He is not the finished article yet, but impressed with his attitude at Newcastle on his debut and if the ground is soft then he will have a good chance of continuing his progress.
