Fantastic Team Helps Through Difficult Times

These are difficult times for all as the threat of Coronavirus heightens and social distancing becomes the order for the future.

British horse racing has been banned despite our efforts to continue behind closed doors, while the Irish are able to keep racing, albeit that the situation may change at any moment. Of course, we are hugely disappointed to not be able to race on; our horses are fit and ready and we are having an excellent season with some nice targets ahead. Meanwhile, at home, we have split the horses into different groups and have started to turn out and rough off the winter horses. The summer jumpers are ticking over and can resume full training when we know that racing may restart. The greatest group to benefit is the young horses; ten four and three year olds who are having some good quality work and attention and who will benefit from this in the long term.

The staff have been fantastic; despite many of them being professional jockeys and thus seeing their income slashed, they remain on our books and have been fabulous helping to repair, improve and tidy the yard. Their enthusiasm is infectious and I am thankful to all of them for pushing the yard forward in these uncertain times.

We have had incredible support from our owners, and indeed a couple of new horses have appeared on the yard. Some of our owners are entering very troubled times and the sooner that the Coronavirus passes the better for the whole economy. More news to follow on the new youngsters and also some horses who are looking to be rehomed. Details of those are on the Facebook page, as are photographs of action on the yard and what everyone has been getting up to.
