Yorton Stud held its annual sale of two year old and yearling national hunt stores, organised by David Futter and GoffsUK. The sale takes its inspiration from France, offering jumps pedigrees, from many young sires, and all the youngsters had been produced by the team at Yorton.
Together with Mark and Susie Russell we looked at all of the two year old geldings and bought two from our shortlist.
Early on we loved the grey gelding by Mawatheeq whose dam by Kendor has produced two jump winners from four runners including the black type Normandy Invasion. This grey is an exceptional mover with correct conformation and he should mature to a good 16.2hands high. He is pictured above.
Our second purchase was towards the end of the catalogue, the tall bay by young sire Martinborough whose pedigree is full of black type including listed hurdlers. He again impressed with his movement and outlook and looks a chasing type.
Both two year olds will be broken in and given a season pre training. They are exciting additions to the yard for the future.
We were so impressed by the sale and the production of the youngsters by David and the Yorton team. The stud is immaculate and run by true horse people and we are delighted to support it and this select store sale.
The next bloodstock sales are the comprehensive Goffs UK September sales with a mix of untried and form horses. This takes place on Tuesday and includes horses from Trevor Hemmings and Gigginstown dispersal. There are many exciting types catalogued and Paul McIvor has compiled a brilliant list of potential improves and winners. Please contact the office to register your interest to purchase and we will send on the list. See the catalogue HERE
