Pre Kelso

We have had a great week on the yard with our flat winner and plenty of galloping and preparing the imminent racing horses.  Scu and the jockeys have been schooling most of the week, and we have really enjoyed working the horses on the grass and woodchip as we peak the runners.

We start our Kelso nine declarations with the exciting Bollingerandkrug.  Third on his bumper debut he was denied another bumper run by Covid and makes his hurdle debut tomorrow.  He has plenty of innate ability and should run a big race in what looks like a competitive division of the novice hurdle.

In the second division we run Spark Of Madness who pleased us on his hurdle debut at Perth and who has come on since then. He is a chaser in the long term but has the ability to win over hurdles before then.

One For Arthur starts his 2020/21 campaign in the three mile chase, possibly a mile too short nowadays but at one of his favourite tracks. He has been in top form at home and loving life cantering around the farm and on the gallops and he will love being back on the track. Of course we will be careful to ensure that the ground is soft enough for him.

Balranald is only a four year old but has shown ability and just failed to stay the extra two furlongs last time. He takes on a competitive field of handicappers but is a horse who could have improvement to come.

Mint Gold is another who is on the upward curve and seems to love his chasing. He won nicely at Perth and despite being a novice can hold his own amongst the experienced chasers. In the same race Signifiant is a keen going youngster who is taking time to acclimatise to British fences. He ran a better race last time and shows ability at home.

On to the novice handicap chase and The Road Home looks to return to his Hexham form after a sub standard run at Bangor. He is a quirky chap who likes his routine and maybe a run closer to home will suit him. Touchedbyanangel makes his chasing debut having schooled competently this week. If he takes to chasing it should open up plenty of opportunities for him.

Finally, Emirat de Cantana returns to hurdles after a little time to get over two falls on the track. He is a stayer with a good attitude who has been unlucky, but who could run a big race being fresh as long as the going is not too deep by the final race.
