Thunder In Milan looks like a proper horse, and should bring many more good days for owners Allson Sparkle Ltd. Bought at the Goffs May sales last year he was chosen due to his staying pedigree and his sire being by Milan. He has been given time and having had a racecourse gallop at Perth in September he was fine to make the running. Despite being headed a furlong out, he showed a fabulous attitude to fight back and only lost out by the smallest margin, a nose. See the photo on the home page! He will have more opportunities to shine and we are all very excited about his future.
Katalystic was a star too and plugged away to be third in his chase, seeming to cope with the conditions. He is a consistent chaser now and should win again. In the same race Book Of Invasions clattered the open ditch and was pulled up when his chance had gone. He has plenty more days in front of him. Also over two and a half miles, but in the higher grade race, Well Above Par tried to make all but a lack of a recent run told in the closing stages, he will improve for this outing, and in the same race Charmix looked hesitant at his fences, maybe remembering his fall at Perth and was pulled up when losing touch. Saint Leo ran flat in the two mile chase and was also pulled up when his chance had gone,
Saint Freule was up to his old tricks in the two mile handicap hurdle, planting at the start, which is upsetting for all as he had been behaving in his races. Whereas Faire Part Sivola was a little lit up and lacking concentration but he jumped well and galloped on to be fourth; we will school him over fences later this week.
Today we had reason to celebrate with a return to enthusiasm for Sutton Manor who was a brave fifth in the Cumberland Chase at Carlisle. Heavy rain and strong winds made the going heavy but Sutton loved it, and jumped with a new found strength and enthusiasm to stay on up the hill. With a continued return to form he could go close next time under similar conditions.
