Ahoy Senor And Corach Rambler Join The Team

Scu and I were at the Goffs Yorton Sales today, sifting through the form horses to find new additions for the team. We selected two and are delighted to offer them for sale.

Ahoy Senor, pictured, is a strong chasing type who ran out an easy winner of his British point to point last week. He is the first GB point winner that we have bought, but came highly recommended by a wise man, Carl Evans, who is the guru on pointing over here. By Dylan Thomas, Ahoy Senor galloped and jumped his rivals into submission and he has as super stride on him. We wanted to buy a young horse who could go to the top and I think this gelding has the profile. He has been sold to existing owners in the yard.

Corach Rambler is a year older at six and has a very progressive profile. A good 16.3 hands high he is by a sire that I like in Jeremy and has lots of scope. He has been a slow learner, but has improved with each run and the form of his point runs this autumn is excellent; Willie Mullins now trains High Stakes who beat Corach in September and then went on to win again. Our horse should be ready to run over hurdles shortly and looks excellent value as we bought him for £17,000 today.

Both horses will be back with us on Saturday and they will welcome viewings then.

Meanwhile, we have three runners tomorrow at Newcastle; Eeyore should be more at home on the better ground and over hurdles in the mares hurdle. Calle Malva is back up in trip to three miles in the mares novice chase and while she would prefer softer ground she has plenty of scope for the Newcastle fences. Finally, Patrick has his first chase ride on Charmix in the veterans chase, like Eeyore Charmix should prefer the ground to that at his Ayr run last time.

Nice ride by Blair aboard Calle Malva . Was well treated I thought for this .. Sure the race did fall apart however the horses confidence grew as the race developed and Is one to follow . I sang the praises of Chanceiton a few years ago here when he started out and to me Calle Malva looks a similar type . If he does half as well as Chancy then she will be doing well . G/L . Best wishes to all .. PS have you ear wigged JP about that Douvan horse ? !!!
