A very happy Christmas from everyone at Lucinda Russell Racing. It has been an unforeseen year with the outside world, and reality, affecting our bubble of horseracing and I know that everyone here has been reflective and aware of how lucky we are to be involved with a wonderful sport, the normality of which keeps us grounded.
We are looking forward to a quiet few days, time to rest and relax and to prepare for the next busy spell of racing. A third of the team will be in tomorrow and we will ride out those horses who are due to run next week; similar to Sundays the work is split and everyone mucks in and mucks out. It is a comforting time to get close to the horses.
For some videos of life here on the yards, including an 'Elf In The Stable' named Jock, please see our Facebook page Lucinda Russell Racing. We have to thank Bryony Cullen for inspiring Jock and his antics; it has been quite a month for him (and her)
Slainte Mhor is due to be our only runner on Boxing Day at Wetherby where he steps up in trip after a good second place at Ayr last month; he will be fine on soft ground.
Big River will travel to Chepstow on Boxing Day as he runs in the Welsh National on Sunday. This is a race that we feel will suit him, and since running a solid race at Cheltenham on his seasonal debut we have been aiming him for this marathon. He is lithe and in good form at home so we are hoping for a big run. Good luck to The Two Black Labs, Debs, Colin, and Derek.
