Freedom And Pre Kelso

Despite the muddy conditions, we had a very happy horse (and connections) when One For Arthur was allowed out in the field this morning. Having had four months in a box, and walking he is now due a few weeks turnout before work starts on the water treadmill. His tendon has scanned well and he is on target for a return to pre training in the late summer. He is pictured getting muddy and being tolerated…

Round Up And The Last Of The Snow

There has been quite desperate weather for the past few days but today things got a degree better with just heavy rain.

Our weekend was not quite as planned; Forest Des Aigles did not stay the three and a bit miles at Haydock and was pulled up, while Le Frank found the heavy and a step up to handicap company a bit much. Meanwhile, at Ascot, it rained and rained and Thorpe did not like the…

Double At Musselburgh For Misfits And Jump For Dough

It was a day for celebrations with Misfits, pictured, at last winning over fences and Jump For Dough comprehensibly doubling up.

It has taken us some time to agree on the right trip for Misfits, but three miles is definitely his favoured distance and this afternoon he travelled sweetly, jumping rapidly and galloping all the way to the line. With his confidence high he should be able to…

Pre Gerry's 50th Day At Musselburgh

Still a bit of snow around and it was a shame to see that Newcastle has had snow today too; it will be terrible to lose another meeting.

There is an early morning inspection at Musselburgh and I hope that it goes ahead for us, and for Gerry Mcgladery who sponsors all but one of the races in celebration of his fiftieth birthday. There will be a good party there!

We start with the…

All The Way To Rasen

Ayr was off due to more rain, so we packed two horses into the lorry and Jaimie and Steve drove them to Market Rasen last night. Avoiding the chaos on the M74 they arrived safe and sound and the journey was not wasted.

Bialco is a gorgeous grey who has lots of scope and has a few options coming up in the spring. He was due to run over hurdles at Ayr to try a new trip of three miles, but…

Grand Morning Wins At Ayr

We were really pleased with Grand Morning's win in the two mile maiden hurdle this afternoon. It was very deep ground but he rolled on through it up the straight to win by just over a length. He is still inexperienced and continues to mature at home but looks a super type for his owner.

We were also pleased by the other runners; Haul Us In is another backward type but given a great ride…

Pre Ayr

It will be heavy ground at Ayr tomorrow and I hope that the rain that is battering down will not jeopardise the meeting. We have five runners.

Grand Morning is a big Midnight Legend who is taking time to mature. He runs in the two mile maiden hurdle and should be strong enough for this trip.

Miss Tiggy is a stayer but she has already won over two miles and the heavy ground will blunt…

Happy Places

We have had a good few days racing and some heartwarming performances.

At Warwick Imjoeking ran a super race to be second, just failing to reel in the strong traveling leader. Joe loves the Aintree fences and we will aim him at the Topham again in the spring, but he may run again before then.

Big River made a few novice mistakes including trying to bank the open ditch, however,…

Schooling And Pre Warwick

Not our finest day at Catterick yesterday with both horses, Vengeur De Guye and It'stimeforapint making mistakes then struggling with the sharp track. Both are better than this and we will have them back racing after being checked over and some more jumping.

We had a morning schooling today with some of the weekend runners and a few of the young horses, today's photograph is of one of hte…

Light On The Horizon

At last, we are able to go racing again having had a few false starts, and the excitement of planning, entering and declaring runners is back. We have Catterick tomorrow and are then planning for racing at Warwick, Wetherby, and Kelso over the weekend before two days at Ayr, as long as the weather stays calm.

At Catterick tomorrow we have two runners; Vengeur De Guye and It'stimeforapint.
