Light On The Horizon

At last, we are able to go racing again having had a few false starts, and the excitement of planning, entering and declaring runners is back. We have Catterick tomorrow and are then planning for racing at Warwick, Wetherby, and Kelso over the weekend before two days at Ayr, as long as the weather stays calm.

At Catterick tomorrow we have two runners; Vengeur De Guye and It'stimeforapint.

Monday Visitors And London Scots For Doddie

Freezing again this morning but the gallops were workable and each horse had some time cantering to warm up. Pictured are Well Above Par, leading Newtown Lad, Make It Happen, Jump For Dough, Simone and Hey Listen.

We had lots of lovely visitors: Anne and Andrew Crawford came to see Catchthemoonlight, Well Above Par and Jump For Dough, while Debs Thomson was up to see Big River, Alizee De…

Saturday News Catch Up

It looks like a bit of a boring weekend for us with racing tomorrow at Newcastle off, and even the point to point at Alnwick canceled. However, there is more racing coming up and we have a number of horses winding up for the meetings in the next few weeks.

Yesterday morning we schooled our new French recruit Bialco. A stunning grey by Dom Alco he won a chase last March at Nantes and has…

Double At Musselburgh For The Road Home And Jump For Dough

We had a super day at Musselburgh with a double from The Road Home and Jump For Dough and some really good placed efforts too.

The Road Home had disappointed on his hurdles debut at Wetherby, but like Thorpe did on Monday, he appreciated the better ground today and given a well judged front running ride by Derek he sprinted clear after the last. We are especially pleased for Mark and Susie…

Places At Ayr And Back To Musselburgh

We had a couple of third places and a fourth place at Ayr and it looks as if the horses are running well again.

Le Frank has plenty of scope and while he was keen to start with he soon settled in front and jumped well. He was just a little weak in the closing stages but this was a great second run over hurdles and we are biding our time until he is strong enough to go chasing.

Rivabodiva…

Thorpe Wins On The First Day Of 2018

It was fabulous to see Thorpe, pictured, back to winning form at Musselburgh this afternoon, and carrying the famous Rosebury colors of primrose and rose for Michael and Lady Jane Kaplan. Thorpe is probably better known for his summer racing but he loved the going and right handed track and sprinted away from the last to win comfortably. He has been in great form at home recently and Beth who rides…

Hogmanay Storms In

A stormy morning with sixty five miles an hour winds and rain battering the yards. We had cunningly changed the work pattern so that today was like a work Saturday thus allowing the horses to have a day off tomorrow.. it was a good idea at the time but faced with five lots in atrocious conditions it took strong characters to keep cheerful. However, the lads and girls here were outstanding and all…

Ah Winter!

Today we had a proper day of winter with snow starting at eight o'clock and continuing through the day, making working conditions a bit miserable. The gallops were still in action and the waterproofs and warm clothes were put to the test.

We still had a good day and were joined by owners Geoff Brown who came to pat his two fillies, Charlie's Lass who is due to run in a bumper soon, and May…

Limbo News

Here we are in Christmas limbo.. after Christmas and before New Year and like everyone it is hard to keep up with which day it is. We normally get some structure from the dates of the race meetings, but with Kelso' abandonment on Friday coming on the back of other cancellations, and some pretty ropey weather forecast it is hard to keep focused.

Argentix went to Market Rasen on Boxing Day…

Christmas Eve... Happy Christmas!

A busy Christmas Eve with the whole team working as if it was a weekday, sixty five horses were ridden and the others had a day on the walker or in the field as usual.

We had a lovely visit from Colin and Debs who came to give their horses carrots and a special pat for Arthur.

Looking forward to the spring and summer, there was great news from Perth racecourse who have announced…
