Tap Night

Novice hurdler

Tap Night
Colour Chestnut
Sex Gelding
Sire Pleasant Tap
Dam Day Mate
Owner John P McManus

Spotted in America by Jane Buchanan, Peters sister, after he had won and been placed on the flat. Tap Night is a well made brother to Listed winner Tap Day. He was imported in February 2011 and was second twice and third once in his first three runs over hurdles.

Tap Night improved for a short break winning at Carlisle, Newcastle and then stepping up to win the Class One Kelso Premier hurdle over 2m2f in March. He finished his season running in the Sefton 3mile novice hurdle at Aintree where he was a creditable sixth.

In the 2012/13 season, having won first time out over hurdles, Tap Night was sold to John  Macmanus and started his chasing career. He won first time out over 2miles, and after a fourth placing, he followed up at Ayr over 2m5f.

Tap Night has looked to be troubled by his confidence over fences, but he has run a couple of good races in defeat, including at Cheltenham. He may mix hurdling and chasing this season.
