Tay Valley Chasers
One of Scotland’s most exciting Racing Clubs continues to go from strength to strength. Based in Perth and formed in 2007 with nothing more than an idea, the club has a membership limited at 100.
The clubs horses have won FIFTEEN TIMES in the past eight years with numerous placed finishes as well.
The club currently owns two horses, ORIONINVERNESS and MARAWEH. They have recently retired the club's flagbearing horse PROSECCO, a winner of six races and placed sixteen times.
ORIONINVERNESS has size and presence and has pleased Lucinda and Scu on the gallops. He had a full season of preliminary training last year and this autumn and winter he ran in a couple of bumpers for experience before novice hurdling. He was third and fourth at Ayr and has been allocated a mark of 104. He will likely have one more run this spring before a summer off and long term looks a chasing type. By Brian Boru, sire of Cheltenham Festival winner Next Sensation, and very useful chaser Bold Sir Brian, he is from the family of Macs Chariot and Minella Man, and is a half brother to Mudita Moment the winner of three hurdles to date. He has been purchased to run on softer going through the winter, and offers members the chance to be involved with a potential chaser from his early days and to watch his progress. See his pedigree HERE.
MARAWEH is a beautifully bred five year old gelding by Muhtathir out of Itquaan, purchased from Shadwell Estate at the October Horses in Training Sale at Newmaket in 2013 for 25,000 Guineas. He was lightly raced on the flat, showing has good form over 1 Mile 4 Furlongs, and ran with some promise over hurdles in 2014. In 2015 he started his season with a staying on run at Musselburgh on the flat, and then was second over hurdles at Perth in April, before winning TWICE over 2m7f in August at the club's home track of Perth. He continued his winning at Musselburgh in the autumn, and with a seasonal tally of four wins he ended with a rating of 118. He has had a good winter break and is ready for a spring and summer campaign starting in the £20,000 Class Two hurdle at Perth in early April.
