So, the first batch of pre trainers are in work and have completed four days of walking and trotting. It is great to be back in the old routine, and while we still have many members of staff on holidays we have four or five lots going out each day.
Derek is pressing on with his three three year olds who are being broken in. He is pictured with Nicola and Colin's Malinas, 'Neena' who, like the other Goffs purchase, Michael and Jane's 'Pinspot' is trotting and cantering around the sand and looks very relaxed and happy. The third youngster is Julia and Alexander Trotter's Fair Mix gelding, 'Crumbs' who, having been homebred, and coming straight to Arlary rather than having the experience of the sales, is taking a little longer to get going. He is trotting round the school though and it will not be long before he joins the other two.
The Road Home arrived this morning and has been out in the field with Degas Art. Dear Degas has a very important job being a mate to all who need a friend. It is six years since he ran at Royal Ascot for us, coming seventh in the Queen Alexandra and giving his owners and trainer a fabulous day out. He went on to win four chases for the team and deserves his happy retirement.
