The French scouting team of Scu, Jamie, Eugenio and myself has returned after covering many miles and having seen over two hundred horses trot up. We were looking for a two year old with good action and a sound pedigree to break in and have in training next season.

On Monday we were at David Lumet's show where private deals could be done, and though we bid on two horses we were unsuccessful. On to Arqana in Deauville on Tuesday and we saw a some very nice and well produced horses, making a short list of twelve.

Today Tom Malone bid on our behalf and we have bought two good looking athletic types who are well related. Both are for sale.

Hetre Porpre (translation Copper Beech) is by Enrique the sire of Binocular, and is a half brother to the hurdle and chase winner Viking Blond. His family goes back to Sweet Duke, Scu's final winner as a jockey, and also Grandouet who was second in the JCB hurdle.

Flutter Down is from the family of Tradewinds who was a good winner for us last season over both hurdles and fences before he sadly died from a racing injury. He is by Rob Roy who is by Lear Fan and we loved this youngster's floating action.

Both two year olds will be home by the weekend and I will post photos of them on the Facebook page when they arrive.
