The Classic Chase at Warwick is a race that holds fond memories for us, as it was on this day five years ago that One For Arthur powered his way to victory before going on to land the Grand National three months later.
We’re back to try and repeat the feat this afternoon with Corach Rambler bidding to complete a hat-trick following wins at Aintree and Cheltenham. Saddled with top weight of 11-12, it certainly won’t be easy for him on his first start outside of novice company, but he’s progressed markedly already this season and we believe there is more to come.
We are also represented at Wetherby, where Thunder In Milan and Camp Belan line up in the 2m maiden hurdle and 3m handicap chase respectively. A strapping chasing type, Thunder In Milan is very much a work in progress at present, and whilst he is sure to stay much further in time, we feel coming back in distance this afternoon will prove best for his long-term development. He is fitted with a tongue tie for the first time.
Camp Belan is another lovely long-term prospect and ran a most promising race to finish runner-up on his chasing debut over 2½m at Bangor last month. This is a better class of handicap, but we expect him to be suited by the longer trip and he has solid each-way claims.
