Focus On The Flat

A quiet week in store on the racing front with just a couple of runners on the Flat ahead of weekend jumps action at Cartmel and Kelso.

At Hamilton on Wednesday, Engles Rock turns out quickly following her fourth in the apprentice handicap at Ayr seven days ago. We have the notable plus of title-chasing jockey William Buick taking the ride, and although Engles Rock isn’t the most prolific of winners, we believe this is a race she can be very competitive in.

Twenty-four hours later, Thewaytothestars makes her stable debut in the 7f Fillies’ Novice at Haydock. A horse who showed promise in a couple of all-weather starts for Ed Bethell during the winter, she faces a stiff task up against the favourite Zanbaq and is likely to be seen to better effect once handicapping.

Off-Course Action

Sales come thick and fast at this time of year, and just a week on from a successful trip to Doncaster, we’ll be in Newmarket this week for the Tattersalls May National Hunt Sale, a one-day sale comprising point-to-point and form horses alongside a selection of stores. We’ll be looking to further add to our string for next season so please get in touch via the office if you’re interested in purchasing.
