Jumping Back Into Action

We jump back into action this week, being well represented up and down the land in the coming days, kicking off with three runners at Perth this afternoon.

Perth Wednesday

Petite Rhapsody lines up in the opening 2m4f conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle, looking to gain his second course and distance win of the year. Runner-up on all three starts since that success in April, he looks to have another strong chance with the drop back in trip a potential source of further improvement.

Emirat de Catana also has a good Perth record and he’ll bid to go one place better in the 3m handicap hurdle having been narrowly denied in a similar event at the track last month. Izzy’s Champion completes our trio this afternoon, and whilst he’s struggled to make an impact of late, he’s become well handicapped as a result and it will be interesting to see how he fares stepping back up in distance in the 3m handicap chase, having been placed over the trip in the past.

Breaking New Ground

Tomorrow, we make our first ever visit to Nottingham, where Flylikeaneagle will attempt to continue his impressive spell of form in the 1m½f handicap. Successful on two of his three starts for the yard to date, he is able to run without a penalty for last week’s win at Musselburgh and looks to have leading claims of following up.

Cuban Cigar

We’re racing much closer to home on Friday evening, with Cuban Cigar going in the 1m5f amateur jockeys’ handicap at Musselburgh. Third over 2m at the same course last time out, he should be suited by dropping back in trip and has the assistance of the vastly experienced Serena Brotherton.
