Maifalki Shows His Class

We notched our seventh jumps winner of the season when Maifalki won the concluding 2m handicap hurdle for conditional jockeys’ at Perth on Sunday, ‘Falco’ coming clear from the second last to score by 8 lengths under a confident waiting ride from Patrick. It wasn’t the strongest of races, but he appeared to win with plenty in hand and we have until a week on Friday to run him without a penalty.

Also at Perth on Sunday, there was a creditable effort from Castletown to finish second in the 3m novices’ handicap chase, whilst Lucky Flight may well have completed his hat-trick in the feature 2m handicap chase had he not stumbled on landing at the last, his late mishap seeing him fall from first to fourth in one fail swoop.

Narrow Miss

Flylikeaneagle has made a fine start for the yard, narrowly failing to follow up his win on stable debut at Ayr yesterday. Dropping down to 1m, he just couldn’t peg back a similarly in-form rival but will surely be capable of further success in the coming weeks. Our other Flat runner in recent days, Red Missile, never travelled at Hamilton on Saturday evening and we’ll endeavour to get him back in top form next time.
