We have three Flat runners in three days upcoming, beginning with Engles Rock at Newcastle this afternoon. Successful over 1m at Ayr when last seen in June, she is back up in the weights here, but is a dual course winner and has plenty of form over today’s 7f trip. Fingers crossed they’ll go a good gallop as she’s definitely at her best when getting a pace to aim at.
At Ayr tomorrow evening, Flylikeaneagle bids to extend his winning sequence having won four of his previous five starts for the yard. Saddled with a 5lb penalty for last week’s win at Nottingham, he is due to carry top weight of 10-2, but this actually represents a drop in grade and hopefully his class will see him through.
On Friday, Cuban Cigar returns to Musselburgh for the concluding 1m4f handicap, seven days on from finishing a close fifth over a slightly longer trip at the same track. Having travelled strongly into contention last week, we think coming back in distance will suit, although this does look a stronger race on paper.
